Classroom Rules and Expectations
Classroom Rules:
1. Be kind and respectful
2. Follow directions the first time
3. Listen to the speaker
4. Do your best
5. Be safe
Classroom Behavior Plan:
At Troy Hofer Elementary we use a two-fold classroom behavior management system. Each child has a magnet with their secret agent number on it. It hangs on our board above the number “3” on a number line that goes up to “10”. Students can move their number up the number line when positive behavior is modeled. When students reach “10”, they will receive a piece of “Kind Kid Cash”. These papers can be used to purchase items at our school store. I focus most often on positive behavior in the classroom. Labeling positive behavior out loud encourages other students to exhibit this behavior as well. My classroom is a calm, structured, and happy place to be!
On the other hand, if a student chooses to break a rule, they will be asked to move their magnet down. Once a child moves their magnet down 3 times, they will receive a note or phone call home explaining their negative behavior. I ask that you discuss this behavior with your child and help them to correct it. The note should be signed and returned the following day. If your child receives a behavior referral in our school system you will be notified. It is important that we work together to promote positive student behavior so that learning is our #1 priority!
I strongly believe in positive reinforcement! I frequently label examples of positive behavior so that my students know what I’m looking for. In first grade students can also earn marbles for our class marble jar. When the jar is full, we can decide on a reward together! (Examples: read-in with stuffed animals, extra recess, game day etc.) I will strive everyday to make your child's "home away from home" a happy place to be!
